Summer Fun Updates

So the summer has been off to a great start. Earlier this week, the kids and I went to Landa and walked the hike and bike trail and played at the park. It was very hot and we wished the pool part was open, but they were not, so we went home and walked the neighborhood and then watched the movies we got at the library. We have decided to go to the library on Mondays since they are in the Summer Reading Program and they need to read 20 books as often as they can. I am hoping they can read 20 each week or every 2 weeks, depending on the length of the book (for Kyleigh). I love that the library has a DVD section and they are free to check out. Beats paying for rentals.

Then we headed to Round Mountain to visit my sister-in-law's family. Kyleigh, Adisyn and Cohen had a blast swimming and playing the whole time. On Wednesday, the kids decided to be hair dressers and put every bow and hair tie they could find in their hair. It was kinda cute. It reminded me of the swim hats that have flowers all over. They even did Cohen's hair with some nice colorful braids. Yesterday, I went out with them for a few hours and then Elizabeth and I worked out for about an hour and we were so hot, we decided to swim. Then I realized I was burnt from earlier. I am feeling it today, for sure. After we swam, we watched Shutter Island and let me tell you it throws you off. I then had to sleep with Cohen and I had a crazy dream with a man taking me from my bed and I could not scream and there was a tree and water in our bathroom and Shaun thought I was crazy and as the man was pulling me out of my bed and I could not scream, I woke up. I went to the bathroom and then I had a hard time sleeping after that. I knew not to watch a scary movie without Shaun.

Then the kids woke up this morning and began swimming at 9:00, I remember when my sister and I were little, we wanted to get up and swim even if it was 7 am. So I had to let them. It is hard when you are 8 to be patient and wait, besides, all they would have done is bothered me until I said yes. So now I am updating the blog and facebook, trying to keep up with this stuff since I have no excuse all summer long. I am going to work out after this, make lunch for the kids and then possibly go see Marmaduke with the kids. Then we are headed home since Shaun says it is too quiet at home and he misses us.

Houston Trip

It was very nice to have one last weekend without the kids before I am stuck with them all summer long. Ash took me to another crawfish boil. I ate everything this time except the crawfish. They look like bugs too much. I did eat the shrimp legs though; no one told me to take them off. They had a great boiling trailer that was huge.

Pictures of My Kiddos

Here are a few pictures of the kids in my class and us having a good ole' time. My favorite was the gardening center and our chili cook-off.

Nursery Rhyme Gala

Cohen was in a Nursery Rhyme Gala where the children acted out the characters of childhood rhymes. It was very cute. I included some pictures of him. He played the part well.

Cohen's Graduation

Here are a few pictures from Cohen's Pre-K Graduation. He is getting sooooo big. I forgot how fast this time flies. The bottom two pictures of of his teacher, Mary Tomas and his TA, Suzanne Vigil. He loves his teachers and they love him, even when he makes not so good choices:)

Dinner with the Kids

We decided to have dinner on the patio at a restaurant here in town. Just taking pics when we can as to keep up with the blog for family:):) You know who you are; this is how much we love yall, even though it is a pain in the rear to remember to catch everyday events on camera:) Shaun looks like he has the Elvis lip in the one pic. Hunk a Hunk a Burnin Love.

Fishing at the Lake

Here are some pics of us fishing at the lake. Of course we did not catch anything:(

Canyon Lake Fun

So since Shaun left today for Laredo, we decided to take the kids to the lake to go swimming and have fun. Let me tell you, first of all, there was a huge hill we had to climb down and it was not little, very huge, like Julie said, we looked like goats on the side of a mountain except we were in flip flops. When we got to the water, it was freezing. I only put my feet in but Shaun and the kids got all the way in and when Shaun jumped in he screamed like a girl. It was quite funny.

Earth Day Stuff at School

I decided to have my class learn about Earth Day. I know it is a hard concept for Pre-K, but they really took to it and came up with some exciting and smart ideas. We decided to clean up the flower beds in the front of our school and plant some new flowers to make it nice and pretty. Here is the finished outcome. It turned out really nice. Now if I can only remember to water it everyday before I leave:)

Just an update

So there have not been any exciting things I feel the need to post, but I have taken a few pictures over the past few weeks I will add. It seems my life is a little less thrilling than others so my blog seems a little boring. Here are some pictures of me and Ashley this weekend. We were being silly and taking pictures at Olive Garden; it is fun to act like a kid every once in a while. I will say my weekend was nice and relaxing without any kids or husband. It was a nice break because as I came back I realized this week begins the feeling of being a single parent with Shaun officially in Laredo for work. It seemed like they kept telling him he was going but then would keep him here so I really thought he was not going, but it actually came to reality this morning when he went:(:(
